Arsenal fans were far from impressed by Ayden Heaven’s performance against Bournemouth as Manchester United conceded four.
Man United and Bournemouth played out one of the most thrilling games of the season at Old Trafford as the points were shared in a 4-4 draw.
Who will have a better career: Marli Salmon or Ayden Heaven?
It was a tough evening for the former Arsenal academy graduate, who played all 90 minutes in the heart of Ruben Amorim’s back three.
Back in January, Arsenal lost Heaven to United for just £1 million, and it’s been a mixed spell at Old Trafford for the 19-year-old.
Arsenal fans were far from impressed by Ayden Heaven’s performance vs Bournemouth
Arsenal fans seem more than happy to have allowed Ayden Heaven to leave last January after watching his latest display for Manchester United.
The former Arsenal man had a mixed evening against the Cherries, as despite some solid defensive actions, United will be fuming to have conceded four goals at home.
Heaven left Arsenal for more game time at United, and in fairness to the teenager, he has been given plenty of first-team minutes by Amorim this season.
But ultimately, after his latest display for the Red Devils, the Gunners’ supporters don’t appear overly bothered about having lost him.
One fan joked: “‘Ayden Heaven only cost £1m’ Yeah, we can see that…”
“He’s a liability for Man Utd at the back. But because he cost only £1m, they don’t talk about it enough while hyping him up,” added another.
A third fan stated: “I can see why Arsenal got rid of Ayden Heaven. He’s a solid Premier League player but will never be good enough for the elite sides.”
There were yet more question marks over the youngster’s potential: “It doesn’t surprise me that Marli Salmon made his Champions League debut before Ayden Heaven.”
Finally, another fan said: “Ayden Heaven is too young to be playing in the centre of a back three for a top club. 18 months ago, he was in the Arsenal academy and nowhere near the first team.”
Arsenal hopes Marli Salmon can become better than Ayden Heaven
Meanwhile, Arsenal have very high hopes for Marli Salmon, and there is a belief that the Hale End star can surpass what Heaven achieves in the game.
Which of Arsenal’s top U23 defenders will go on to have the best career? 👀
Mikel Arteta is spoilt for choice!
Along with Max Dowman, the 16-year-old is one of the most exciting talents at the North London club.
Away at Club Brugge, Salmon made his Champions League debut, making him the sixth youngest player to ever appear in the competition.
Mikel Arteta now has one of the most exciting collections of young defenders, with Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori all U-23.
