The Arsenal under-21s were back in action on Monday night as they took on Crystal Palace in Premier League 2 action.

As the end of the season approaches, the young Gunners sit in mid-table, having had a bit of a turbulent season.

Some of that is down to the first team, with plenty of Arsenal academy stars being called up to feature in the senior squad.

As a result, there have been plenty of youngsters featuring before they were expected, such as 15-year-old Marli Salmon making his under-21s debut.

Injuries have also played a part, though there has been plenty to be proud of from a group of players still developing.

Zane Monlouis travels from Toronto to support Arsenal under-21s

As Arsenal took on Crystal Palace in the Premier League 2, there was a familiar face in the crowd watching on as the teams played towards a draw.

Zane Monlouis, who recently left Arsenal to join Toronto FC in the MLS, was spotted as he looked to cheer his old teammates to victory.

Manager Mehmet Ali was delighted to see him make his way down to the game, telling the official Arsenal website: “Every game we’ve got, let’s perform as best as we can!

“These guys show that every day in training, keep competing, and see really the older boys go and enjoy their journeys.

“We had Taylor Foran who used to be an Arsenal player watching us tonight who used to be an Arsenal player which was great, we had Zane Monlouis in the changing rooms there, he’s just flown back from Toronto and going back out in two days to go on his new adventure so I wish that for all our senior boys to go and play men’s football.

“And for the younger ones, keep pushing, looking to get into the first team or get a career from the game.”

In the end, those former players saw a 2-2 draw play out at the Borough Sports Ground, as goals from Michal Rosiak and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand were cancelled out by Crystal Palace.

How Zane Monlouis has done since leaving Arsenal

Zane Monlouis left Arsenal in February to join up with Toronto, looking to kick on with his senior career.

The 21-year-old has made two appearances so far for the MLS outfit, making a short cameo in his first outing from the bench.

The second of those was a 68-minute appearance in a 4-2 defeat to Orlando City, which so far leaves Toronto without a win.
