Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wrote his captain’s note on Arsenal’s official matchday programme ahead of tonight’s game against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta faces Pep Guardiola in the Carabao Cup later today and Arsenal desperately need a win. The last time the two sides met in a cup competition, we beat City at Wembley and went onto to win the competition.
Arsenal don’t have the same confidence anymore but a win tonight can make a world of difference. The League Cup is usually the perfect opportunity for clubs to rest their key stars and give a chance to their young guns.

Arteta has a number of quality young players at his disposal. The likes Folarin Balogun and Emile Smith Rowe have made a brilliant impression over the last few weeks, but another young talent has caught skipper Aubameyang’s eye.
“One player who I think looks really good is Miguel Azeez”, Aubameyang wrote in his column. “Miguel is going to be a great player in the future. He is really calm and mature. So, I know he’s got what you need to be a success and have a big career.”
Azeez is an incredible talent
Azeez joined Arsenal’s academy when he was just five. He has come through the ranks and has almost always been the best player in his age group.

Now 18, the midfielder will get more opportunities with the first time. He made his debut in our final Europa League group stage game against Dundalk earlier this month, and in just seven minutes, he won the hearts of Arsenal supporters.
Many fans felt they saw a bit of Andres Iniesta or Sergio Busquets in him and urged Arteta to give him more opportunities in all competitions. (Read more here)
Arteta will likely name a strong team to face Manchester City tonight. That all but rules out a place in the starting XI for Azeez, but the youngster could well make the bench. Arsenal fans are looking forward to seeing more of him in the first team, and Aubameyang’s recommendation could make that happen tonight.
