Arsenal wonderkid Miguel Azeez scored a stunning goal to help our under-18s end the season with a brilliant win over Chelsea earlier today.
The win pushes the young Gunners to fourth place in the under-18 Premier League table. That is not bad at all considering that we went through a terrible run between January and April in which we won just three out of a possible 10 league games.
17-year-old Jack Henry-Francis’ 43rd-minute goal turned out to be the winner, but Azeez’s spectacular solo strike to open the scoring in the 16th minute was the highlight of the game at Cobham earlier today. (Watch here)
Azeez picked up the ball near the halfway line, drove into Chelsea’s final third, skipped past four different players, nutmegged another and fired home a truly wonderful goal with his weaker foot.
That really was stunning from Azeez. The young midfielder made his senior Arsenal debut against Dundalk earlier this season and he has left fans begging for more since. He is very close to being ready to feature for the first-team, and goals like today’s show why.
Mikel Arteta has already proved to the world that he isn’t afraid to give young players a chance. Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka are the biggest examples of that, and that should motivate players like Azeez to work harder.
Arsenal fans are truly stunned by how good Miguel Azeez was against Chelsea today.
