Arsenal fans have had it extremely rough this season but the most difficult result to digest came last week when Unai Emery knocked us out of the Europa League.
The Gunners were terrible over two legs and deservedly bowed out of the competition. Emery got his revenge on the club that sacked him, and if a latest report is be believed, the Spaniard could inflict more pain on Arsenal in the coming weeks.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Mundo Deportivo revealed last month that Arsenal are looking to replace Hector Bellerin with Barcelona’s Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal. (Read more here)
The 22-year-old is currently at Real Betis, who partly own his rights. Barcelona, however, are obligated to buy him permanently this summer, but the Catalans have plenty of options at right-back already.
As a result, the Spanish giants will sell Emerson this summer and Arsenal are reportedly ready to pounce. However, we never do our deals early, and that has opened up the opportunity for another club to leap ahead of us in the race to sign the Brazilian.
Unai Emery wants to sign Arsenal target Emerson
Cadena Ser revealed yesterday that Emery’s Villarreal have already initiated contacts with Barcelona to sign Emerson this summer.
The Yellow Submarine, like Arsenal, are looking for a quality right-back, and having watched Emerson perform brilliantly at Betis since the start of last season, Emery wants him at Villarreal as soon as the transfer window opens.
That is bad news for Arsenal. If reports are to be believed, we can only sign a new right-back after we find a buyer for Bellerin. That is unlikely to happen before the end of the Euros, which puts Villarreal ahead of us in the race to sign Emerson.
The former Arsenal boss would’ve certainly enjoyed getting one over us last week. That hurt every Gooner in the world, and if he can get the upper hand over us one more time, the pain could just become a bit too much to bear.
