Granit Xhaka is reportedly ready to leave Arsenal this summer amid growing transfer interest from Bayer Leverkusen as well as Mikel Arteta’s summer plan to sign at least two central midfielders.
According to the Sun, the Swiss international is worried that he could spend the last year of his Arsenal contract sat on the bench as the Gunners look to bring in more midfield bodies for next season, with Sport1’s Patrick Berger also reporting that Leverkusen are interested in Xhaka.
Leverkusen working on a transfer of Granit Xhaka (30/🇨🇭) – Mirror called first. The Bundesliga side would have to pay a double-digit million fee as Xhaka‘s contract with Arsenal running til 2024 with 1-y-option. #AFC want to strengthen midfield, Caicedo and Rice being targeted.

With the Mirror also reporting that Xhaka’s Arsenal future is looking very uncertain, early indicators suggest that the 30-year-old could realistically leave north London this summer despite the midfielder enjoying his best season ever in the Premier League.
Xhaka has been one of Arsenal’s most important players in their push for the title and their qualification for UEFA Champions League football, and the midfielder leaving this summer would be viewed by many fans as a poor decision from Arteta and his team.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
Arsenal selling Xhaka to Leverkusen would be an awful decision

Xhaka’s revival under Arteta has been nothing short of incredible, with the midfielder now one of Arsenal’s most important players and a figure that is as influential off the pitch as he is on it. And selling this summer would make little sense on a lot of levels.
Whilst the need for central midfielders is obvious, selling Xhaka doesn’t need to be a byproduct of such moves in the market, with the Swiss international perfect for Arsenal if they want to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League for next season.
