Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on the Youri Tielemans contract situation at Leicester City amid Arsenal links.
Goal reported back in January that the Gunners are interested in the Belgian midfielder who has been brilliant for the Foxes since he joined them back in 2019. It was claimed that Edu had even held talks with Tielemans’ agent about a move in the summer transfer window.
Romano believes Tielemans is almost guaranteed to leave Leicester before the start of next season. He also revealed how much the Belgian could cost and it’s an affordable figure for Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal-linked Tielemans will not sign new Leicester contract
The Italian said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: “I was speaking with people involved in this story a few days ago. 100 per cent he’s not extending the contract and 99.9 per cent he’s leaving the club in June. I’m sure the Premier League is an option.
“You mentioned Man United, I say let’s see what happens with Pogba because it depends on Pogba to see what happens with Tielemans for Man United.

“Arsenal have always been interested in Tielemans, since a long time, but let’s see what would be the potential proposal, what Leicester will ask.
“Last summer it was around €60-65 million (£50 to £55 million), let’s see this summer, with one year left on his contract, maybe it would be €45-50 million (£38 to £42 million). The player is amazing.”

The Insider’s View:
Arsenal need a new midfielder in the summer transfer window no matter what. That need will increase if Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny move on, which is a very real possibility.
Tielemans would be a fantastic option for us. He’s still only 24, is hugely experienced for his age and knows the Premier League very well. The fact that he wants to leave Leicester is a bonus and it won’t be a surprise to see Arsenal make a move for him.
If Romano’s words are anything to go by, Tielemans will be available for around £40 million. That may sound like a huge fee for someone who will have just one year left on his deal, but his age, profile and experience make him worth the big bucks.
