BBC pundit Micah Richards was thoroughly impressed by Armando Broja last weekend after he was linked with a move to Arsenal.

Football London revealed that the Gunners are among a number of clubs keeping an eye on the 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Southampton from Chelsea.

Broja has scored eight goals in all competitions already in what is his first season in the Premier League. He is a fine talent and Richards was blown away by his performance against Manchester United last weekend.

Micah Richards: Arsenal-linked Armando Broja bullied Varane and Maguire

Broja started for Southampton against Manchester United in their 1-1 draw on Saturday. He was a nuisance to the two United centre-halves throughout the game and it is no surprise that we’re considering a move for him.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live’s The Monday Night Club, Richards said: “Broja, I know we’ve mentioned him before.

“But, he’s bullying not only Maguire but he’s bullying Varane as well, which I couldn’t quite understand for someone so young.”

The Insider’s View:

Arsenal are set to lose both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in the summer. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already gone, that’ll leave us with no strikers, which makes a move for a new one a necessity.

Mikel Arteta and Edu will likely spend big on a first-choice striker but we’ll need another one too. Broja, still only 20, would be a fantastic option for us after how much he has impressed in the Premier League this season.

He fits the profile of players we’re looking at, both in terms of age and his style of play, and it really won’t be a surprise to see Arsenal try to sign him in the summer.

However, whether Chelsea will agree to sell Broja to a direct rival is a completely different story.
