The Insider View: Selling £30k-p/w ace would be Arsenal's stupidest move ever amid links with £43m move

Recent reports are claiming that AS Roma are chasing a transfer for Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka.

According to Roma Today, the Gunners are demanding a fee of €50m (£43m) for the £30k-p/w England international. It is thought Jose Mourinho is keen on the player, he faced during his time with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Portuguese coach was extremely complimentary of the ace following his performance against the Czech Republic. Mourinho lauded Saka, claiming his experience at Arsenal and in the Premier League helped him as he called him ‘very talented’.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Saka is supremely talented

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say if Arsenal sell the youngster, it would be the stupidest move in their history.

Saka has been nothing short of sensational since he burst onto the scene under Unai Emery.

No Arsenal player has registered more assists over the last two seasons than the 19-year-old.

Meanwhile, his performance against Tomas Soucek and co last week was a reminder of his supreme talent.

Most young players falter on the big stage, however, the Hale End academy product thrived. He was named ‘star of the match‘, attempting the most dribbles of any player on the pitch.

Rebuild and lack of replacements make any sale a stupid move

Aside from his obvious quality, Arsenal are in what can only be described as a rebuild.

And whilst Saka is only 19-years-old, he proves to be one of the club’s best player, for reasons stated above.

To sell your best player whilst you’re going through a rebuild would be a horrific move.

Let’s say in some parrellel universe the outfit decide to sell the attacker. They would then need to replace him with a likeminded player.

It would be extremely difficult to find a youngster with as much ability in world football.

Selling Saka amidst transfer interest from Roma would be a stupid move from Arsenal.

Probably their stupidest ever.
