Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon, but things could’ve been really different if Gabriel Martinelli’s goal had stood in the first half.
Firstly, Brighton deserved the win. They were the better team for most parts of the game, but the fact that we could’ve still scored three or four goals today makes the defeat a painful one.
Martin Odegaard was our sole goalscorer in the end, but Martinelli deserved to be on the scoresheet as well.

VAR rule out Gabriel Martinelli’s goal

The young Brazilian headed the ball into the back of the net from close range and we were momentarily back in the game. However, VAR decided they didn’t want to award the goal.
