Arsenal fans are blown away by how good young Charlie Patino is after watching him in action for the under-21’s last night.

The midfielder, still only 17, was arguably the best player on the pitch. Arsenal, sadly, couldn’t pick up the win, but little Patino’s performance brought back memories of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla dominating games.

Patino started as a number six against Swindon Town last night. He was the youngest in a very young team, but the composure he showed on the ball to get out of tight spaces made everyone realise he is a special talent.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, Patino had 86 touches of the ball and completed 52 passes. He registered two key passes, completed two dribbles and attempted 15 long balls, successfully completing over half of those.

Defensively, Patino was solid as well. The 17-year-old won 17 out of his 19 duels, made five tackles and was fouled nine times. (SofaScore) He had a stunning game for Arsenal in the middle of the park and it’s just a shame that he ended up on the losing side.

Arsenal fans want Charlie Patino in the first-team

Arsenal fans are hoping to see Patino break into the first-team very soon. Mikel Arteta has already shown that he isn’t afraid to give young players an opportunity on the big stage, which is excellent news for the 17-year-old.

Arsenal host Wimbledon in the next round of the Carabao Cup in two weeks time. Granit Xhaka will be suspended for that game as well, which could open the door for young Patino to make his senior debut in front of the Emirates crowd.
