Arsenal started the new year in style with a fantastic win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. That makes it three victories in a row in the Premier League – something that many felt was unlikely due to our form before Christmas.

Alexandre Lacazette’s brace along with goals from Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal all three points at the Hawthorns. All three of them were favourites to make the Team of the Week, but sadly, one of them has missed out.

WhoScored released their TOTW today and Lacazette and Tierney were the two highest-rated players. That isn’t surprising at all considering how good they were against Big Sam’s men on Saturday.

The Frenchman was named the player of the week as well as he scored a stunning 9.6 rating. The former Celtic man came second with 9.1, but Saka, despite his brilliant display, didn’t make the cut.

The teenager was arguably the star of the show on Saturday. He finished off a fantastic team goal and was a constant threat. He could have picked up a couple of assists as well, but Aubameyang failed to get at the end of his crosses.

Arsenal fans will not be happy about Saka’s exclusion from the Team of the Week. However, they are in for a pleasant surprise as Dani Ceballos is named in the XI ahead of the Englishman.

Ceballos was quietly brilliant

Saka definitely did enough to make it into the XI but it is hard to ignore Ceballos’ performance. The Spaniard didn’t have a direct hand in any of of our four goals, but his display was brilliant nonetheless.

The 24-year-old made three key passes and created one big chance. He won seven of his nine duels, made four tackles and seven interceptions – no player has managed more interceptions in a single Premier League game this season. (WhoScored)

With Thomas Partey closing in on a return, Ceballos’ place is in jeopardy. However, if he can keep performing the way he did on Saturday, he will force Arteta to keep him in the side.
