Meet Arsenal youngster Michal Rosiak

At the tender age of 10, Michal Rosiak moved to England from Polish side Głaz Tychowo. He joined Arsenal‘s academy in 2016.

The talented youngster is as versatile as they come. He can play anywhere across the backline, but he says his preferred position is central midfield.

Rosiak has come through the ranks at Hale End and has featured for our U18s and U21s side over the last few years.

He is a regular under Jack Wilshere in the U18s setup whenever he is available, and his performances have been brilliant.

Rosiak is deadly in free-kicks

Direct free-kicks are one of the most difficult ways to score a goal in football, but Michal Rosiak has made a habit of it at Arsenal.

The 18-year-old has scored six goals so far this season and amazingly, four of them have been from free-kicks, which is an extraordinary statistic.

Rosiak’s latest goal came today, in the U18s clash against Leicester City. He opened the scoring with an absolute stunner from 20 yards out to help our young Gunners win the game 4-0.

The Pole also scored a stunning free-kick against Manchester City last year in the FA Youth Cup semi-final. Watch the goal below.

Jack Wilshere says he’s a ‘great example’

Every manager at every level loves a player who gives his all in training.

Michal Rosiak isn’t amazing at free-kicks because he was born with that talent – he practices it every single day at the training ground.

After our 4-0 win over Leicester today, Wilshere heaped praise on Rosiak and claimed that he’s a ‘great example’ for all the other young players at the club.

“He’s a great example to the players because he practices and practices,” Wilshere said.

“Of course, there are other sides to the game you can practice but he puts in serious dedication to his craft of taking free-kicks. He actually tried a bit of a different technique today but it was unsavable. A great goal.”

A Gooner through and through

Rosiak only came to Arsenal when he was 10, but he says he has always loved the Gunners.

Like every other young player in the academy, the 18-year-old wants to make it into the senior squad one day and win trophies.

After signing his first professional contract last year, Rosiak said: “Signing my first professional contract for Arsenal means everything to me, it’s pretty amazing.

“Playing for the club I’ve always loved and watched growing up, hopefully it will be the first of many contracts. I want to win major trophies with the club.”

If Rosiak can stay fit and continue developing in the same way, we’re sure a first-team opportunity under Mikel Arteta will come calling sooner rather than later.
