Mikel Arteta has completely transformed Arsenal over the years.

The Gunners were stuck in 10th in the Premier League when the Spaniard was given the job in 2019. They had a squad filled with average, overpaid players who were just not good enough.

Arteta won an FA Cup with that squad, rebuilt it and has now formed a team that is challenging for the biggest trophies.

Almost every time a challenge has been put in front of Arteta, the Arsenal manager has delivered, and he could now do the same to eliminate all the doubts Thierry Henry had about his side in 2024.

The challenge Thierry Henry issued to Arsenal in 2024

Thierry Henry is Arsenal’s greatest-ever player.

The Frenchman was one of the best forwards in the world when he was a Gunner, and he brought a lot of joy to us fans back in the day.

Now, a pundit, Henry wants this Arsenal side to achieve great things as well, and is always demanding more when he analyses their games.

Back in October 2024, after Arteta’s men beat PSG and made them look average, Henry issued a challenge to Arsenal.

The Gunners legend claimed then that he expected his old side to beat PSG at the Emirates, but he wanted Arsenal to do the same away from home.

He told CBS Sports at the time: “I think, for me, it’s normal right now that Arsenal beat Paris Saint-Germain at home, especially that Paris Saint-Germain side, no disrespect to them.

“I want to win like that away from home against Paris Saint-Germain or whoever is going to come your way. Go to Inter and win strong. Be strong defensively. I want that type of win away from home.

“Then, I can talk and be loud as an Arsenal fan and say: ‘Hey, we can win in Europe’. Listen, I didn’t win with Arsenal in Europe. But, I’m saying to you, a proper statement win would be to do that away from home.”

Arsenal have already completed Thierry Henry’s challenge, Mikel Arteta could do it again vs PSG

Winning away in the Champions League against the big sides is never easy.

Arsenal lost to Inter Milan at the San Siro in the group stage and were beaten by the likes of Porto and Bayern Munich away last season.

Henry’s challenge was a fair one, but Arsenal delivered by beating Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Despite that, questions are being asked about Arteta. Now, the Arsenal manager could silence all his doubters by repeating that feat against PSG at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

If that happens and Arsenal reach the final of the Champions League, a lot of people will owe Arteta a serious apology.
