The January transfer window is right around the corner, and according to the Athletic, Manchester City are interested in signing Kieran Tierney.

The Premier League champions are keen to add a left-back to their ranks in the winter market, and with Tierney dropping down to second-choice behind Oleksandr Zinchenko, there is an opportunity for a deal to be made.

With Arsenal signing Tierney for £25m back in 2019, though, it will take some financial effort from the Manchester giants to match a fee that could see the Scotland international sign for City next month. Yet the link does open an intriguing conversation.

Cedric Soares

If reports are true, Cedric Soares is the player who is the most likely to leave Arsenal in January, with Fulham already in talks to sign the former Southampton superstar next month.

With Ben White establishing himself as Arsenal’s new starting right-back and Takehiro Tomiyasu a sensational backup, it makes sense for all parties to sell Cedric in January. And with Fulham already in talks, with other clubs also interested in the Portuguese star, offloading the fullback makes a lot of sense.

Indeed, with Cedric also a high earner at a reported £75,000-a-week, Mikel Arteta will be once again cutting some considerable wages off the payroll, once again taking a step in the right direction to overhauling the squad.

Rob Holding

Rob Holding has become something of a forgotten figure at Arsenal. A defender who has been called upon by Arteta to close out a game, the former Bolton Wanderers star has seen most of his starts come in Europe and in cup competitions in the last two seasons.

And this could result in the centre-back leaving Arsenal in January, with the defender an ideal player for a mid-table Premier League side looking for a solid player to add to their ranks at the midway point of the season.

Whether or not Arsenal will want to sell Holding is another question entirely. But with the centre-back at a stage in his career where he will want to be playing regular football, the defender could be tempted to leave if a big enough club comes in during the January market.

Albert Sambi Lokonga

Arsenal’s signings in the last 18 months have been nothing short of momentous success stories, yet if there was one new arrival who many fans are still unsure about, it’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, who is seemingly still finding his way with the north London club.

Signed from R.S.C. Anderlecht as one of Belgium’s most exciting talents, the central midfielder is yet to make much of an impact at Arsenal, with Lokonga’s role as either a Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey replacement yet to be really identified.

With Arsenal looking to sign a midfielder in January, there’s every chance that Lokonga could leave in the coming weeks. And whilst it’s likely that a loan deal could be best for the youngster, there’s every chance that the 23-year-old could leave for good if an offer comes in.
