Noni Madueke was the official Man of the Match in Arsenal’s win over Club Brugge, but another player had a claim to the prize.

Madueke scored a screamer against Club Brugge, as did Gabriel Martinelli; however, it was a player outside of the attack that quietly stole the show.

Amid sensational strikes and frightening wing play, David Raya provided the foundations, putting on a show that is unlikely to earn him the spotlight due to the other protagonists on the night.

All eyes were on how Arsenal bounced back after suffering their second defeat of the season against Aston Villa.

Raya was one of the players who collected criticism after the defeat, making his performance against Club Brugge even more meaningful.

The Spaniard was tremendous against Club Brugge and certainly spared Arsenal’s blushes.

Though Christian Norgaard earned high praise from Arteta after filling in at centre-back, it didn’t mask that Arsenal’s defence was shaky on the night.

Many times, the hosts carved through the Gunners, but it was a recurring theme that, once they reached Raya, their luck was spent.

Raya’s numbers paint the picture of his performance, preventing 1.12 goals and making as many as seven saves.
