It was a night for everyone to remember inside The Emirates as Arsenal reached the Champions League thanks to a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Bukayo Saka’s tap after Leandro Trossard’s shot was saved was enough for the Gunners to reach a first final in over 20 years.

On the night, it was a team performance, with Saka and Viktor Gyokeres particularly catching the eye.

However, according to Alan Shearer, it was the two lesser mentioned names of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ben White who were also worthy of a mention.

Alan Shearer praises Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly as Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid

Lewis-Skelly got the nod in midfield over Martin Zubimendi and while he didn’t last the whole game he was superb all night in the middle.

Indeed, Shearer told Amazon Prime that ‘MLS’ looked the part right from the first minutes.

“He’s done really well. I said early on that I like his positivity, his first thought is can he pass it forward. His second thought is if not then I’ll go backward. I like that in a midfielder. They don’t half make your job easier as a forward when you’ve got someone like that who quickly passes it,” Shearer said.

The former England captain then went on to praise Ben White as well, in particular, his relationship with Bukayo Saka.

“Ben White has done well tonight as well you know, he’s had to put a shift in defensively and I said earlier about his relationship with Saka down the right, he’s done really well going forward, and he’s defended well when he’s had to, he’s done really well.”

With White having come under the microscope this season at times and Arsenal apparently eyeing new right-backs, it felt like a massive night for him.

With the World Cup around the corner, White has now shown Thomas Tuchel he can perform at the very highest level.

As for Arsenal, their fans will celebrate long into the night. It was one of the most electric nights at The Emirates since it opened and with PSG or Bayern now awaiting them, they have a one-off game to become European champions.
