Arsenal have now suffered back-to-back defeats after losing against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Prior to this continental disappointment, Arsenal were beaten by Newcastle United. This result served a blow to the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes.

Mikel Arteta defended Arsenal’s performance against Inter Milan, but the truth is that the North London club are in extremely poor form.

There have been signs that such a slump has been coming for some time, though.

Thierry Henry highlights Arsenal problem after Inter Milan

Arsenal’s defeats against Inter Milan and Newcastle both came on the road, which has come as no surprise to Thierry Henry

The Arsenal legend has been expecting his former club to come unstuck away from home.

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo after the Gunners’ loss at the San Siro, the Frenchman said: “My issue, and always has been, we talked about it on matchday two [after Arsenal drew with Atalanta], away from home I don’t think it was good enough. But we were getting away with it for a very long time, now we’re not any more.”

Arsenal have also been beaten by Bournemouth away from home this season, and dropped points against Manchester City and Atalanta on the road too.

What Mikel Arteta needs to change vs Chelsea

Arsenal will travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Sunday.

Henry believes Arsenal have to beat Chelsea to keep their Premier League title hopes alive. A defeat in West London would give Liverpool and Manchester City the chance to extend the gap between themselves and the Gunners in the table.

Arteta must inspire a response from his side against the Blues, and that means changes will have to be made.

Leandro Trossard deserves to be dropped from the Arsenal starting XI. The Belgian has been ineffective in recent games. Arteta will be hoping that Martin Odegaard will be fit enough to play a significant role against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli is fighting for his Arsenal future, and may need some time out of the firing line himself.

The Gunners have been toothless in attack in recent weeks, particularly when not playing at the Emirates Stadium, and have to rediscover their killer instinct against Chelsea, as their Premier League title dream is hanging by a thread.
