Arsenal fans impressed by Leandro Trossard against West Ham
There was a lot of attention on Arteta’s squad selection against West Ham following the Gunners’ late win against Leicester City.
Mikel Merino was awarded a start up-front in place of Raheem Sterling, with the flanks represented by Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri.
While the latter has earned high praise in recent weeks, it was Trossard who was applauded by fans on social media for how he started against the Hammers.
“Trossard as a starter is growing on me, he has been phenomenal!” An Arsenal fan said in reaction to the Belgian’s trickery on the left flank.
Other supporters thanked the 30-year-old for his contribution amid Arsenal’s injury crisis, giving Trossard high praise for how he has stepped up.
“Trossard has been playing so well since Saka’s injury. Man stepped up,” and, “Trossard has been our best attacking player ever since Saka got hurt I wanna thank him man.”
What earned the former Brighton star the highest praise was his crossing into the box, as the Belgium international attempted to find Merino several times early on.
“Great cross by Trossard! A proper striker gets onto that,” an Arsenal fan said, as others agreed with similar statements.
“Trossard is balling out, can others show up please.”
“Trossard just be doing anything man I love it, go down the line with either foot, inswinging cross either foot, cut in shoot, box movement, no predictability to his game whatsoever.”
The winger was causing West Ham all kinds of problems early into the contest, testing Aaron Wan-Bissaka with his skill and crossing ability.
“Trossard’s crossing is ridiculous,” a fan said.
Arsenal have a decision to make with Trossard
Signing Trossard in the 2023 January transfer window was a bold move from the Gunners and one that certainly paid off.
Amid Arsenal’s injury problems, the Beglian has stood up to bridge the gap, showing his worth as an established squad player.
The Gunners are getting what they need from the player and now, the player must be awarded, with Trossard’s contract at Arsenal being discussed.
Fans certainly want to see the Belgian extend due to what he can offer as a starter, off the bench and in an array of roles, being a reliable figure that’s difficult to replace.
