Off the field, Arsenal could be considered to be in something of a tricky spot right now.
Following Edu Gaspar’s departure at the beginning of November, Arsenal are still yet to recruit a new sporting director.
Tomas Rosicky could return to Arsenal to fill the position, but the situation hasn’t been sorted before this month’s transfer window, which Arsenal may need to attack.
Arsenal’s hand may be forced to make offensive additions this month, given the long-term injury to Bukayo Saka.
And in addition, the club also have several first team players with contracts that are either winding down, or on the brink of expiration.
Leandro Trossard unhappy with Arsenal’s new contract offer
One of those is Leandro Trossard, a 30-year-old who Mikel Arteta has been keen to keep around at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal wanted Trossard to stay, but fresh reports suggest that the Belgium international may have other plans.

According to Football Transfers, Trossard has just rejected Arsenal’s contract offer to extend his stay in north London.
Arsenal offered Trossard a one-year extension to his contract that is set to expire in 2026, a deal which would be in line with the club’s policy for players over 30-years-old.
The winger ‘immediately’ rejected that proposal, leaving both parties seriously unhappy according to the report.
Arsenal in particular are frustrated, given that they had previously agreed with Trossard that the situation would be resolved by the turn of the year.
Arsenal ‘frustrated’ with Trossard over contract rejection
Speaking back in August, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was asked to summarise each of his Arsenal teammates in one word.
For Trossard, Odegaard simply said: “Baller.”
Although, on recent evidence, Trossard hasn’t quite been able to live up to that praise, a winger who looks short of confidence and quality.
Like Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard is failing to step up in the absence of Saka.
And in truth, Ethan Nwaneri has been the only Arsenal attacker who has truly taken responsibility since Saka was injured, other than Gabriel Jesus perhaps.
A difficult situation for Arsenal, and it might be an opportune time to move Trossard on and swiftly sign a replacement.
