Arsenal fans react as Thomas Partey unleashes surprise long throw-in trait vs PSG

As Arsenal travelled to Paris in the Champions League semi-final second leg, all of the attention was on how they could conjure up a comeback.

Arteta had to find some new ways to surprise PSG, and he did just that as Partey unleashed some long throw-ins during the match.

Arsenal came close to finding an opener through one of those long throws, showing just how dangerous a weapon it can be.

Fans took to social media to express their shock at the Ghanaian’s new trick, with one supporter stating: “Thomas Partey is moving like Rory Delap.”

Another added: “What are these Partey throws? We’ve never done this before?!”

“Partey is the difference maker in the Arsenal team,” one supporter said on X.

The comparisons to Rory Delap, an expert long-thrower at Stoke City, continued as one fan added: “Partey new Rory Delap.”

“These Partey throws are like corners,” one fan claimed, while another said: “Why have we waited this long to use the Partey long throws??”

It’s something that has even taken Arsenal fans by surprise, with Arsenal looking for those percentages to get them over the line.

Arsenal long throws add new weapon to Mikel Arteta’s armoury

Arsenal have been all about finding ways to become the best team in absolutely every phase, with set-pieces at the heart of it.

Nicolas Jover has come in for praise at the club, given just how good the Gunners have become at corners and free-kicks.

Adding long throws into the mix turns those chances on the byline into set-pieces in their own right, which is another small percentage that could work for Arsenal.

While it is still fresh and new, there’s something so threatening about the distance the throws have on them.
