The Emirates Stadium let their feelings towards referee Slavko Vincic be known when they booed him off at half-time during Arsenal’s clash with PSG in the Champions League.

The Gunners were frustrated in a difficult first half in north London, where they were stunned just three minutes into the match.

A fine finish from Ousmane Dembele found the back of the net early doors to put PSG 1-0 up against Arsenal.

It took some time for Mikel Arteta’s men to get back into it, not helped by the stop-start nature of the match.

Referee Slavko Vincic gave some decisions that the Arsenal fans weren’t impressed with, though many were left divided.

Arsenal fans left fuming over referee calls against PSG

The stop-start nature of the game and the impact of the referee’s decisions were clearly felt by those in the stadium.

Plenty of Arsenal fans were left fuming on social media, stating: “Referee ruining what could have been a good game of football.”

“Referee has had an absolute mare,” another fan added.

Others were left wishing that the focus would be on the performance of the team, claiming: “Don’t moan about the referee…. We’ve been incredibly poor, totally outplayed & lacking ideas in the final third….Must. Do. More.”

The overwhelming feeling, though, was one of frustration: “This referee is digging a humongous hole for himself.”

Another added: “The referee has made this hard to play and watch. Going to be stop start.”

The frustration seeped onto the pitch, with Bukayo Saka booked for kicking the ball away in frustration over one foul given against him.

Whether that impacted the performance, however, is another question entirely.

Referee didn’t help Arsenal, but wasn’t at fault for performance

With Arsenal chasing the game early on, the soft fouls awarded by the referee were definitely not helpful for the Gunners.

It slowed the game down, making them unable to gain the momentum they so desperately needed to fight back.

In all, though, he wasn’t at fault for making it a tough performance for Arteta’s men.

There were no glaring errors on the big calls, namely around the penalty area, with the main problems coming on the ball.

PSG’s suffocating press caused chaos, making it tough for the Gunners to get out and build in possession the way they can.

While the referee certainly didn’t help, he wasn’t a costly factor.
