Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has sent a heartfelt message to former manager Arsene Wenger, as he makes a rare appearance at the Emirates Stadium.
In 22 years, Arsene Wenger won almost everything with the Gunners, but the Champions League was something that slipped from his grasp.
Wenger revealed it was his “biggest regret” not to land the competition in that spell, but it’s something Mikel Arteta could do with Arsenal.
The Spaniard has guided the north London club to the semi-final, with the road to glory now opening up in front of them.
Arsenal take on PSG in the Champions League semi-final, with a first leg at the Emirates Stadium, which is set to be crucial.
It remains to be seen whether Arteta can take advantage of the first leg, with plenty of former stars in attendance.

Mikel Arteta thanks Arsene Wenger as former Arsenal boss make PSG appearance
With Arsenal’s clash against PSG set to be one of the biggest nights the Emirates Stadium has ever seen, the stars have come out to watch on.
Former players have made their way to north London to watch, while there is also a rare appearance for Arsene Wenger.
The ex-boss has rarely visited since he left the club in 2018, but such an occasion is clearly a big draw for him to arrive.
It was something addressed by Mikel Arteta, who gave a heartfelt response to his old manager, making an appearance.
“He’s [Arsene Wenger] going to be up there,” Arteta said on Amazon Prime Video before the match.
“If we are here, if I am here, if a lot of us are here, it’s because of him. Hopefully, we can give him something back.”
It shows the impact that the Frenchman has made, not least with his own success, but leading to the current success that Arsenal are having.

Arsene Wenger’s record in the Champions League
In his many years of managing, Wenger took charge of 20 campaigns in the Champions League, 19 with Arsenal and one with Monaco.
His record has been hit and miss in those years, with the 2005/06 run the best of the lot with making the final.
| Matches | Wins | Draws | Defeats |
|---|---|---|---|
| 188 | 88 | 44 | 56 |
While the Frenchman missed out on lifting the trophy by a narrow margin, there is some hope that Arsenal can still break the duck.
That responsibility now lands on Mikel Arteta, who could finish what his old boss started.
