Arsenal fans are very unhappy with Martin Odegaard’s performance against Sporting CP, as he struggled to create many chances.

The midfielder completed just one pass into Sporting’s penalty area in 70 minutes of football, which left Viktor Gyokeres rather isolated.

The Arsenal captain was often spotted dropping deep to collect the ball, but really, the Gunners needed their number ten in more advanced areas.

He completed 48 passes during the match, but ended with an xA of just 0.49 following a rather lacklustre display in the middle of the park.

After seeing his stat of passes into the opposition’s penalty area, Arsenal fans have been criticising Odegaard and questioning his place in the team.

With Max Dowman now impressing and Eberechi Eze due back soon from injury, the midfielder could quickly find himself stuck on the bench.

Martin Odegaard injury update

Odegaard was forced off with an issue after 70 minutes, which saw him drop to the turf during the game.

Alex Howell spotted Odegaard limp off the pitch before having a long conversation with Arteta and then sitting on the bench.

The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, having 22 matches with various issues across the season.
