Arsenal fans hail Mikel Arteta for using Eberechi Eze in a new attacking role vs Wigan

Arsenal fans loved Eberechi Eze’s performance against Wigan and have called for Mikel Arteta to use him in left central midfield more often.

The 27-year-old enjoyed an impressive afternoon at the Emirates Stadium as he produced two wonderful assists in the first 45 minutes.

Midweek was tough for the attacker, as Eze was hauled off at half-time against Brentford following his lacklustre display.

However, in the fourth-round FA Cup tie, the former Crystal Palace man showed the sort of form which earned him the £68 million move to Arsenal in the first place.

Arsenal fans have urged Mikel Arteta to start Eberechi Eze in a left centre-mid role more often following his two assists against Wigan Athletic.

The first was an outstanding pass from the midfielder, who showed great composure in the central circle to beat his man and then sent a ball, splitting open the visitors, to pick out Noni Madueke.

His second assist was a great pass to Gabriel Martinelli, who neatly finished off the chance and doubled the Gunners’ lead.

During the game, Arsenal fans were full of praise for Eze’s performance and have called for him to be used in a left central midfield role from now on.

“Already very clear that Arteta should not treat Eze like Odegaard. Eze is obviously an LCM and he should not be playing RCM like that,” claimed one fan.

Another added: “Again, I say it, Eze is a better player for Arsenal on the left-hand side; he is not an Odegaard replacement.”

A third stated: “Eze playing on the left is the reason we’re this fluid. Arteta has to stop playing him RCM.”

There was yet more praise for the midfielder: “Eze on the left is a creative dream.”

Finally, another added: “Arteta is so stupid because why is Eze pulling the strings when played in the left 8? What an assist.”

Eze hopes his performance against Wigan will help him to keep his place in Arteta’s line-up against Wolves in midweek.

Martin Keown and Owen Hargreaves were impressed by Eberechi Eze’s assist

Martin Keown and Owen Hargreaves were both seriously impressed by Eze’s assist for Arsenal’s first goal, setting up Madueke.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Hargreaves said: “It was nice to see Eze just get on the ball and enjoy it. He had a little bit of space, no pressure on the ball and how about this for a pass!

“It’s all about Eze just making that forward pass and having the desire to do so,” added Keown.
