Eberechi Eze had his awful performance against Brentford analysed by Peter Crouch as Arsenal drew on matchday 26.

Arsenal did exactly what fans feared at the Gtech Community Stadium and dropped points against Brentford.

Manchester City have lowered the gap in the title race to four points with 12 games to go, putting pressure on Arsenal.

In truth, the Gunners applied the pressure to themselves by dropping points against Brentford, who really tested Mikel Arteta’s side.

On a night that saw several Arsenal players struggle against Brentford, Eberechi Eze was undoubtedly the worst, seeing his evening come to an end after 45 minutes.

Name Arsenal’s most disappointing player vs Brentford but you can’t say Eberechi Eze

All eyes were on Eze to step up against Brentford following the news of Kai Havertz’s muscle injury.

Instead, the opposite occurred, which led to Arteta hooking Eze at half-time, on what was an embarrassing night for the playmaker.

During the interval on TNT Sports [12/02/26 21:02], Peter Crouch reacted to the summer signing’s half-time substitution, suggesting one reason why he was taken off.

“Eberechi Eze couldn’t get on the ball, he couldn’t make things work and couldn’t make things tick,” Crouch said.

The pundit was absolutely right to call out Eze for failing to get on the ball, as the numbers supported his claim.

Eze managed 17 touches in 45 minutes against Brentford, and to contextualise that figure, Martin Odegaard managed 12 touches in 10 minutes after replacing the Englishman.

Completing just nine passes and failing to attempt a single dribble or shot, it was a forgettable night for Eze, who did nothing to convince Arteta to play him more.

Why Eze’s performance against Brentford was eye-openingly bad

If there was one thing Arsenal fans wanted to see other than three points against Brentford, it was to see Eze kick on.

Instead, fans were starved of their hopes, as the playmaker did the opposite to playmaking.

It was a particularly concerning performance for Arsenal, as Arteta no longer has Mikel Merino, Kai Havertz or Ethan Nwaneri to rotate with.

The Arsenal manager’s options currently begin and end with Eze and Odegaard, who have both been lacklustre this season.

If the Gunners want to win the league, their big-game players need to step up, and right now, Eze is falling way short of expectations.
