Arsenal fans have been left impressed by the display of Raheem Sterling, with supporters raving about his performance against PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

The winger has struggled for minutes and form throughout the season, ever since making his late switch from Chelsea on loan.

There was frustration recently as Raheem Sterling was snubbed against Manchester United, despite Arsenal needing a goal late in the game.

In the end, Mikel Arteta decided to give the 30-year-old a start in the Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven.

That was repaid with an impressive performance, with the winger showing perhaps the best of his ability at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal fans react to Raheem Sterling performance vs PSV Eindhoven

With Raheem Sterling given a chance for more minutes in the Champions League, the Arsenal loanee impressed in the opening half.

The winger helped open the scoring when he found Oleksandr Zinchenko in space, with the Ukrainian international cutting onto his left foot to strike his effort into the back of the net.

Moments later, Sterling setup a goal for Declan Rice, helping the Gunners take an even more commanding lead in the tie.

While the winger has frustrated fans at times, plenty went to give their praises to the star on social media.

One supporter said: “How we all wanted Sterling to score with his chance, to cap off an impressive first half from him..”

Another added: “Raheem Sterling showing flashes of brilliance. He’s back.”

“You have no idea how I was praying Sterling scored there,” another fan said. “Immense first half from him. I can see why he was once a great player regardless of how he is today.”

Another fan said: “Is Sterling starting to remember here that he’s a really good footballer??? His dribbling has been so much better today.”

The praise continued, with: “Raheem Sterling, forget the miss, that first half from you was incredible.”

“That’s a great cross from Sterling. Looks rather decent tonight. Credit where it’s due.”

It shows that fans really do want it to work out for Sterling, though it really hasn’t so far for the star.

Raheem Sterling is a “key” part of the Arsenal squad

While Sterling hasn’t quite made an impact for Arsenal on the pitch, there is belief that he is helping with the squad behind the scenes.

That is a claim from Lucy Ward, who said on TNT Sports on the winger: “I do think we need to reframe the conversation around him [Sterling].

“He’s a key part of this Arsenal squad in terms of helping the young players. He affects others, he appeared in the first team at a young age and it’s so valuable for Arteta to have a player like Sterling.”

The loan may well have failed to this point in terms of output, but his help for those Hale End stars could have a longer-lasting effect than just this season.
