Arsenal fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing from one player in the opening stages of the clash against Crystal Palace.
Palace arrived at the Emirates posing a huge challenge to Arsenal, who were tested by Oliver Glasner’s side.
Glasner was full of praise for Eberechi Eze ahead of kick-off, who faced his former club for the first time since his summer transfer.
Before scoring, Eze had a difficult start to the contest, but he wasn’t the only one, as Arsenal fans aired their frustration with Martin Zubimendi on social media.

Arsenal fans were unimpressed by Martin Zubimendi’s performance against Crystal Palace
After the thrilling 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in midweek, Arsenal looked rather jaded against Palace, with Zubimendi one of those to struggle.
Zubimendi has had an exceptional start to the season, but even the best see their standards slip at times.
On X, Arsenal fans reacted to the Spaniard’s early sluggishness against the Eagles, with one saying the midfielder looked as though he was drunk.
“Zubimendi playing like he’s drunk…” they said, as other negative reactions flooded in.
“Zubimendi’s had a POOR start to the game. Better sort his feet out.”
“Zubimendi has been shaky.”
In the early stages, Zubimendi lost possession in costly areas, something supporters did not appreciate.
“Zubimendi has made at least 3 incredibly stupid passes in the same manner so far. What the hell, man?”
Another said, “This Zubimendi guy is too sloppy on the ball.”
One fan even accused the summer signing of dropping his first poor performance since joining the club.
“Zubimendi picked a nice day to have his first stinker. Cheers mate.”
While some showed their concern about the misplacement of simple passes, others questioned Zubimendi’s positioning.
“Zubimendi has made a couple misplaced passes so far that could’ve been costly. He needs to fix up this game.”
“Zubimendi’s positioning needs to be looked at. He keeps putting himself too close to Palace players.”
One fan spared the Spaniard’s blushes to a degree, noting that Declan Rice also had a poor start to the game.
“Not exactly the game you want Rice and Zubimendi dropping 0/10 performances.”
Zubimendi struggled in the early stages against Palace – the stats
It’s unlikely for fans to be dissatisfied with Zubimendi, who has been one of the most influential signings of the summer.
In the early stages against Palace, however, fans were permitted to be unimpressed, as the midfielder did struggle.
Martin Zubimendi’s first 30 minutes vs Crystal Palace
4x possession lost
0 tackles won
1 x dribbled past
1x error leading to shot
With 30 minutes on the clock, Zubimendi had lost possession four times and had been dribbled past once.
The 26-year-old was also responsible for an error that led to a Palace shot, which made the crowd in N5 nervous.
It wasn’t the finest start for Zubimendi, who would’ve gone into the interval eager to improve.
