Martin Keown believes Arsenal made the best signing in Europe over the summer.

Andrea Berta added eight players to Mikel Arteta’s squad in the transfer window, spending in excess of £250 million in the process.

Viktor Gyokeres arrived for £63 million from Sporting CP as one of the marquee additions, while the likes of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke also moved to North London to bolster Arteta’s forward department.

However, Keown believes one of the other additions made by Berta has been the standout signing.

Martin Keown says Martin Zubimendi has made a greater impact at Arsenal than any other summer signing in Europe

It was a huge summer transfer window across Europe, particularly in the Premier League.

Liverpool spent over £400 million on a number of talented players to provide Arne Slot with a squad that can retain their status as Premier League Champions.

However, no club had a greater net spend than Arsenal, and Keown believes that the Gunners are reaping the rewards of this investment.

Martin Zubimendi arrived from Real Sociedad for £55 million, and the pundit is convinced that the Spaniard has made as great an impact as any other summer signing across Europe.

“Zubimendi is another who has come in,” Keown said on talkSPORT.

“Across Europe, I don’t see anyone who has come in and integrated as well and made such an impact.

“The goals he’s scored, the edge of the box one, the header, he makes everything tick. He came on at the weekend, seamless.”

Martin Zubimendi has unquestionably been Arsenal’s best summer signing so far

Arsenal’s summer arrivals have had a mixed time in North London so far, on the whole.

Gyokeres has been impressive in glimpses, but has perhaps not quite produced the output many would have hoped from him at this stage.

Madueke was excellent until he suffered a serious knee injury, while Eze has flaunted his quality in moments, but hasn’t had a sustained run in the side thus far.

Cristhian Mosquera has looked promising when he’s come in, while Piero Hincapie, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga have hardly featured.

Meanwhile, Zubimendi has played more minutes than any outfield player barring Gabriel Magalhaes, and has looked completely at home in the process, contributing to an Arsenal side that sits top of the Premier League table.
