Arsenal have finally brought an end to their unwanted 22-year streak vs Chelsea

Arsenal have just picked up yet another victory over Chelsea this season.

The Premier League leaders have faced the Blues four times this term, won three and drawn one of those games. They are on an 11-game unbeaten run in this fixture as well, making them the superior side.

This, however, was not always the case. In the Roman Abramovich era, there was a period where Chelsea got the better of Arsenal on many occasions.

During that era, the West Londoners had built up an away streak against the Gunners that lasted over 22 years, but that’s finally broken.

Who surprised you the MOST against Chelsea?

Good or bad, let us know!

Chelsea’s half-time streak vs Arsenal is over after 22 years

Arsenal had to work really hard to beat Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners didn’t dominate possession in the first half, but they were comfortably the better side. William Saliba gave them the lead, but his strike was cancelled out by Piero Hincapie’s own goal.

The score was 1-1 when the referee blew his whistle for half-time, and that scoreline concerned Arsenal fans who were aware of what had happened in such situations before.

Since October 2003, every time the score was level between the North Londoners and the Blues in the Premier League at half-time, the Gunners failed to win the game.

There had been five such fixtures, and four of them ended in a draw, with the other resulting in an Arsenal defeat.

Now, over 22 years later, that streak has finally come to an end thanks to Jurrien Timber’s winner from a corner in the second half.

With that, Arsenal have now gone 19 points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta continues his domination against Chelsea

Mikel Arteta must love facing Chelsea.

The Arsenal manager has now beaten the Blues 11 times in his career – more than any other team. He is also unbeaten in his last 11 games against them, with an aggregate score in that period of 24-10.

Furthermore, in what is a truly embarrassing stat for Chelsea fans, Arteta has beaten Liam Rosenior more times in 2026 (3) than every Blues manager has won against the Spaniard combined (2).

After four games already this season, the West Londoners must be sick of playing against Arsenal, but it may not be over just yet.

Arsenal could still face Chelsea in the Champions League and the FA Cup this season. If Arteta’s record against them is anything to go by, the Gunners would love to take them on in both competitions.
