It was a terrible afternoon for Arsenal as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City, with Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes both having poor performances.

City closed the gap on the Gunners to just three points and can move ahead of them during midweek if they beat Burnley.

Who was the most disappointing performer for Arsenal vs Man City

Mikel Arteta’s team had plenty of chances to win the match, but came away empty-handed on a tricky afternoon.

Arsenal Insider now assesses the displays of the Gunners’ players after a tough defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

David Raya – 5

David Raya nearly cost Arsenal a goal in the first five minutes and didn’t have his finest performance at the Etihad.

Cristhian Mosquera – 4

It was a very tricky afternoon for Cristhian Mosquera, who struggled against Jeremy Doku.

The Belgian winger was well up for it versus Mosquera and made it very tough for the Arsenal man.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 3

Gabriel Magalhaes produced possibly his worst performance of the season, having had a right tussle all afternoon with Erling Haaland.

The Brazilian defender was very lucky not to have seen red for a clash with Haaland late on, which was a silly move from such an experienced player.

William Saliba – 5

William Saliba was a bit better than his defensive partner, but he will be disappointed that the Gunners conceded two goals.

Piero Hincapie – 6

Piero Hincapie was probably Arsenal’s best defender against City, making several strong challenges, whilst also carrying the ball forward well.

Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice – 4

Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice were both passengers against City, with the latter looking like the number of games has finally caught up with him.

Rice should have been the player to carry this Arsenal team in Manchester, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Martin Odegaard – 4

Martin Odegaard missed the chance to put the ball on a plate for Kai Havertz to score the second goal of the afternoon.

Noni Madueke – 6

Noni Madueke was really positive playing against City, making 12 carries, although he was subbed off at half-time.

Eberechi Eze – 6

Eberechi Eze had one of the biggest chances of the game to score for Arsenal in the second half and was fairly positive at left wing.

Kai Havertz – 6

Kai Havertz had a very good first half and scored the equalising goal at 1-1 for the Gunners.

However, the German attacker was not seen in the second 45 minutes, and his rating reflects that.

Gabriel Martinelli – 2

Ben White – 2

Leandro Trossard – 2

Viktor Gyokeres – 4
