Martin Keown shares Gabriel Jesus verdict amid Arsenal scoring form
Many expected that the 2022 signing’s equaliser would lead Arsenal to victory, as Jesus has never lost a Premier League game that he’s scored in.
The 27-year-old triggered Arsenal’s resurgence at the Gtech Community Stadium, adding to his recent flurry of goals, something that had pundits talking before kick-off.
One figure to praise Jesus’ turnaround in form was Arsenal icon Martin Keown, who noted the ‘big change’ he’s noticed in the number nine.
“I’ve seen a big change in him. I was worried for him, but suddenly he scores 5 goals in a week,” Keown said on TNT Sports coverage of the game.
“He went 23 matches without scoring which would weigh heavily on him. He’s playing now with more confidence, there’s a top player there, and he’s never really reached his top level.”
The player has really turned things around for himself, as the goal that represented the start of his resurgence was Jesus’ first Emirates goal in over a year.
As Keown emphasised, the striker’s quality has returned as his confidence continues to grow, with the Arsenal legend implying that there’s more to come from the Brazilian.
Jesus was impressive against Brentford
Arteta has been praised for Jesus’ good form however, it’s very much down to the player’s ability to put the past in the past.
Against Brentford, the forward not only scored the decisive equaliser but was strong in all areas, as his numbers portray.
Gabriel Jesus starred against Brentford
50 touches
1 goal
2 shots on target
100% dribbles completed
100% long balls completed
6 duel wins
From impeccable dribbling to being in a desired position to score Arsenal’s opener, Jesus’ confidence would have only grown against the Bees.
Amid Arsenal’s attacking injury woes, Arteta will be overjoyed that his striker has found form, with no sign of slowing from Jesus.
