Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has recently returned to form in stunning style.
Less than a week ago, Gabriel Jesus looked like he couldn’t buy a goal. The Brazilian striker had netted just once since January, and hadn’t scored at all in the Premier League in that time.
Since then, though, he has grabbed five goals in two games. This flurry began with a hat-trick in the EFL Cup against Crystal Palace on Wednesday. When the Gunners took on the Eagles again in a Premier League encounter on Saturday, the 27-year-old struck twice more.
Mikel Arteta has been as impressed as anyone by the forward’s sudden turnaround. As quoted by the official Arsenal website, the Spanish coach said after Saturday’s win: “The beauty of football – these things happen.
“He’s scored the same amount in 45 appearances in three days, he scored five goals, and he could have scored a hat-trick today. Great credit to him because he’s put so much work into it, so much belief into what he does and he was patient, and he got rewarded.”
Arsenal fans had urged Arteta to start Jesus at Selhurst Park this weekend, and the manager will be delighted that he followed that instruction, as the former Manchester City man has now delivered two match-winning performances in a row.

The South London outfit will now be relieved that they don’t have to face Jesus again for some time.
Meanwhile, the Arsenal star will now be brimming with confidence and eager to get back out on the pitch again.
Jesus will be desperate to keep scoring, and Arsenal ought to hope that he does, as good things tend to happen when the attacker finds the back of the net.
In fact, Jesus has never tasted defeat in the Premier League when he has got on the scoresheet. Following his double against Crystal Palace, he has now netted in 61 separate fixtures across his spells with Manchester City and Arsenal.
Of those 61 games, Jesus has been on the winning side 56 times and has played out five draws. A Jesus goal is a true Premier League good luck charm.

Jesus has had his critics recently, and for good reason. Prior to this week, he looked as though he may be finished at the highest level.
