Five things missed in Arsenal vs Real Madrid
Declan Rice fumes at Thomas Partey
In the latter stages of the contest, Thomas Partey picked up a costly yellow card.
The Ghanaian, who was superb over the two legs, will now miss the first leg of the semi-final against PSG due to suspension.
Rice wasn’t impressed with his teammate’s cheap ticket to a booking, fuming at the midfielder for getting a petulant suspension ahead of the crucial semi-final.
Oleksandr Zinchenko plays his part against Vinicius Junior
Though Oleksandr Zinchenko was on the pitch for less than a minute, the Ukrainian ensured he was involved in the game.
On the touchline, Zinchenko attempted to exchange words with Vinicius Junior in a bid to play mind games with the Brazilian.
Bukayo Saka clashes with Dani Carvajal
On the subject of mind games was another player who had no impact on the game, as Dani Carvajal clashed with Saka.
As the Arsenal winger headed down the tunnel at half-time, Carvajal did what he could to get in Saka’s head, exchanging heated words with the Englishman before getting physical.
Thierry Henry honoured at the Santiago Bernabeu
Thierry Henry was the hero at the Bernabeu in 2006, and the Frenchman’s influence wasn’t ignored when Arsenal won at the ground once again.
Saka copied Henry’s actions when celebrating at the Bernabeu, shushing the Real Madrid fans before mimicking Kylian Mbappe’s shrug celebration.
Antonio Rudiger escapes a red card
While referee Francois Letexier was slammed for his performance when it came to awarding Real Madrid a penalty, the match official missed a controversial incident.
Antonio Rudiger stamped on Myles Lewis-Skelly’s torso but avoided punishment, an action that could’ve, and arguably should’ve, ended in dismissal.
