It’s six wins in six for Arsenal in the 2025/26 Champions League, extending their winning streak against Club Brugge.

After the lows of losing to a late goal against Aston Villa, it was integral that Mikel Arteta’s side bounced back in the Champions League.

Bounce back is just what the Gunners did, as goals from Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli secured a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge.

Arteta was so impressed with Martinelli and Madueke on the night, as their goals were so good that they deserved to double the scoreline.

Club Brugge players were stunned by Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli’s goals

Madueke scored a tremendous goal to open the scoring, a goal whose status as the best of the match was overridden in the second half.

Martinelli saw Madueke’s goal and said, ‘Look what I can do’, firing in his own screamer beyond Brugge’s keeper half an hour later.

The goals were of such a high quality that they warranted praise from the opposition, as Club Brugge captain Hans Vanaken caught up with the media post-match, as transcribed by Het Nieuwsblad

“Goals one and three were pure class, but the second goal killed us, right after halftime,” Vanaken said.

His teammate, Joaquin Seys, also commented on the goals, as it was he who was left spellbound by Madueke in the buildup to the Englishman’s strike.

“I tried to give it my all afterwards, but when he scores like that, you just have to say it was a great shot. Nothing more, nothing less,” he admitted.

Two similar goals, one from the left, one from the right, both cast a spell on Club Brugge, but which one was better?

Which goal was better against Club Brugge, Noni Madueke or Gabriel Martinelli?

On a night that saw two exceptional goals scored, the last thing Arteta will be doing is working out who scored the better strike.

While the Arsenal manager won’t mind which goal was better, data from Sofascore has shed some light on which one was harder to convert.

Fill in the blanks: Noni Madueke’s goal was _______ to score than Gabriel Martinelli’s

The answer is that there was barely anything in it, as Madueke’s goal was 0.01xG lower than Martinelli’s, meaning that it was marginally more difficult to score.

Both of the expected goals totals are remarkable, as they indicate that Madueke’s goal had a 2% chance of being converted, and Martinelli’s 3%.

The metric suggests that, if Madueke had taken the shot 100 times, 98 times out of 100 it’d be missed.

Arsenal’s goal of the season might not need to look much further than the first 56 minutes of the match against Club Brugge.
