Danny Murphy predicts if Arsenal can still win the Premier League if they lose to Liverpool on Sunday

Arsenal face a real test of their title credentials as they travel to Anfield to take on the reigning champions.

Gary Neville thinks Arsenal will beat Liverpool and secure their first three points at the ground since 2012, despite Jamie Carragher believing his former side will win 2-1.

Mikel Arteta will miss two key players in Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz and there is an anxious wait over captain Martin Odegaard following a shoulder injury picked up against Leeds.

Although it is still very early in the season, the game is a chance for both teams to lay down a huge marker in the title race. Danny Murphy has given his verdict on what could happen if the Gunners lose.

Danny Murphy thinks Arsenal can still win the Premier League if they lose against Liverpool

Speaking on talkSPORT’s preview of the Liverpool v Arsenal Premier League clash, Murphy has expressed his belief that it would be too early to rule either side out of the title race no matter what the result at Anfield.

Arsenal will head to Anfield full of confidence after a 5-0 thumping of Leeds and Liverpool have shown some defensive frailties in their opening two matches.

Murphy stated: “Is it a good time for Arsenal to be going to Anfield, and is it too early to lay down a title marker?”

Arteta has some difficult decisions to make ahead of the game, including whether to hand a debut to Eberechi Eze and whether Noni Madueke or Ethan Nwaneri replace Saka on the right flank.

The Gunners have drawn their last three league games away at Liverpool but notoriously struggle against the Merseyside outfit.

However, Murphy would not be writing Arteta’s side off even if they do suffer another defeat during the clash.

Murphy explained: “Yeah, just because Liverpool beat Arsenal, I wouldn’t be writing Arsenal off, and vice versa, there’s a long way to go.”

Arsenal could have the upper hand in midfield during Liverpool clash

Arsenal came back from 2-0 down to grab a point at the back end of last season against Arne Slot’s side and produced an excellent performance in the process.

Despite the absence of Declan Rice in that match, the Gunners dominated the midfield battle and the middle of the park will be key once again.

Liverpool have looked a little open in midfield during their victories over Bournemouth and Newcastle and Arteta will hope that Martin Zubimendi and Rice can stamp their authority on the clash.

Should Odegaard pass a late fitness test, the Gunners will be confident their midfield trio can control the game and have a big influence on the outcome of the result.
