Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, seeing their winless run extend to four Premier League games.

Mikel Arteta’s side were unable to get a much-needed win over their rivals on what was an eventful evening in West London.

Gabriel Martinelli found the net in the second half to open the scoring however, the Brazilian’s goal was responded to by Pedro Neto.

Arsenal are now four league fixtures without three points, taking their dreams of the Premier League title even further away.

Five things you may have missed in Arsenal draw vs Chelsea

Kai Havertz’s strange yellow card

Referee Michael Oliver showed Kai Havertz a yellow card in the second half, booking the Arsenal striker for pleading to not leave the pitch to receive treatment.

Havertz reopened the cut to his head that he sustained against Inter Milan, seeing blood pour down the German’s face.

The forward was reluctant to go down to allow the medical team to treat him, resulting in Oliver showing him a yellow card.

Levi Colwill should have been sent off

On the subject of bookings comes Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who by the letter of the law, should have been sent off in the first half.

The centre-back avoided a yellow card for blocking David Raya and delaying the restart – something Arsenal know all too well – and was soon after booked for a foul.

Had Oliver booked the Englishman for the first offence, he would have left the field of play for the second, adding another controversial call to Arsenal’s complaints book.

Jurrien Timber’s throw in

Jurrien Timber had a moment of utter madness at the Bridge, as the Dutchman attempted to take a simple throw in.

On the touchline, the Arsenal fullback went to release the ball and instead of throwing it forwards, the ball fell out of his hands and hit his head.

The throw-in was called to be retaken in what was a Sunday League style passage of play in the derby.

Gabriel Martinelli’s celebration

After a difficult start to the season, Martinelli found himself on the scoresheet which would have come as a huge confidence booster.

The Brazilian missed a chance to score in the first half and certainly redeemed himself in the second, with his celebration displaying his relief.

Martinelli let out a visible sigh of relief before celebrating in front of the away end, showing what the goal meant to him and his team.

Ben White’s struggle

It’s very rare that we see Ben White have a trialling 90 minutes, however, the Englishman was bullied on the right side by Pedro Neto.

The Portugal international got the best of White several times when 1v1, with the winger having the last laugh as he netted Chelsea’s equaliser.

From start to finish, White looked fragile at right-back, making Riccardo Calafiori’s absence look even more glaring.
