Eberechi Eze won the Player of the Match award for his performance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Newcastle United.
The Gunners had to get the three points at the Emirates after losing their last two Premier League fixtures, and they got the job done.
Eze’s stunning strike from outside the box in the first half proved to be enough for the win, and Arsenal fans will be delighted with the result.
The former Crystal Palace man will get all the plaudits, but we thought another player was incredible – Piero Hincapie.
Who was your Man of the Match from Arsenal vs Newcastle
Piero Hincapie was Arsenal’s unsung hero against Newcastle United
Hincapie has been a fantastic signing for Arsenal.
The Bayer Leverkusen defender joined the Gunners on loan on deadline day last summer in a deal that many felt was unnecessary.
However, Andrea Berta’s decision to push Arsenal to sign Hincapie has proved to be a game-changer as the Ecuadorian has been one of the club’s best players since the turn of the year.
Against Newcastle, Hincapie held his own against Jacob Murphy at the start and then against Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga. He dealt with everything comfortably.
In a period when Riccardo Calafiori is out injured and Myles Lewis-Skelly is struggling for form, Arsenal needed a reliable option at left-back.
Hincapie has been that and more over the last few months, and the fact that he is still only 23 means he will get even better in the coming years.
It is now a no-brainer for Arsenal to trigger their option to buy him permanently in the summer.

Piero Hincapie’s stats vs Newcastle United are so impressive
Newcastle arrived at the Emirates Stadium in really poor form, but they are still a very dangerous side in many phases of the game.
The Magpies made it hard for the Gunners to score more than once, and there were periods where they controlled possession for large parts.
Arsenal’s defenders were called into action on a few occasions, and Hincapie, in our opinion, was the pick of the bunch.
Rate Piero Hincapie’s performance vs Newcastle out of 10
In his 90 minutes on the pitch, the Ecuador international made 15 defensive contributions – five tackles, five clearances, four interceptions and a blocked shot.
Hincapie also won nine of his 13 attempted duels and wasn’t dribbled past a single time in the entire game.
Sofascore gave him a 7.8/10 rating for his performance – higher than any other player, including the goalscorer, Eze.
