There were a lot of talking points during Arsenal’s win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Gunners made what should have been a straightforward game extremely complicated. The hosts were 2-0 up and cruising, but Diego Gomez’s strike gave the Seagulls all the momentum.
Arsenal still continued to have chances at the other end of the pitch, but just like in the first half, they failed to find the back of the net.
If it wasn’t for David Raya’s heroic save, Arsenal would’ve dropped points, but Gabriel Jesus feels the referee made a mistake too.

Gabriel Jesus says he can’t understand how Arsenal didn’t get a penalty vs Brighton
Arsenal dominated large parts of the game against Brighton.
The Gunners were by far the better side. The fact that they had 15 shots at goal in the first half shows just how superior they were.
Even in the second half, Arsenal had opportunities to score. Gabriel Martinelli missed a sitter, causing Mikel Arteta to fall to his knees on the touchline in disappointment.
A few minutes later, the Gunners appealed for a penalty when Jesus was pushed inside the box by Ferdi Kadioglu. The Turk pushed the striker when he was jumping for a header after a cross from Martinelli.

We thought it was a penalty, and Jesus did too. However, the referee, John Brooks, and the VAR, Paul Tierney, disagreed.
Speaking about the incident after the game, Jesus said, as quoted by BBC Sport: “I don’t understand personally why it is not a foul.
“I was looking at the ball and attacking the ball, but the defender was not even looking at the ball. In my view, I think it is a foul.”
Gabriel Jesus made a statement for Arsenal vs Brighton
Jesus started the game against Brighton on the bench and replaced Viktor Gyokeres in the 71st minute.
The Brazilian is slowly getting minutes under his belt after nearly a year out due to a knee injury, but he is looking really sharp.
In fact, Jesus looked a lot better than Gyokeres, who had another poor game leading the line.
How concerned are you by Viktor Gyokeres’ performance vs Brighton
In his 71 minutes on the pitch, the former Sporting man completed four of his seven attempted passes. Jesus, on the other hand, completed seven of his nine attempted passes after coming on.
The ex-Man City star also had two shots at goal, just one less than Gyokeres, despite playing just 19 minutes plus stoppage time. (Sofascore)
That is a big statement from Jesus, and we won’t be surprised at all if he replaces Gyokeres against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
