Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium saw Mikel Arteta’s hopes of winning the Premier League title take a hit.

Jarrod Bowen loves playing against Arsenal, which made the match-winning goal all the more frustrating as the Gunners failed to eliminate the danger.

Riccardo Calafiori was humiliated on the flank by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who floated a perfect cross into Bowen to win the Hammers the game.

It’s back to the drawing board for Arteta, who now has a near-impossible task on his hands to beat Liverpool to the Premier League title.

Graham Potter sums up Arsenal’s attacking woes

Aside from Bowen’s goal and Myles Lewis-Skelly’s red card, the game was rather uneventful, which is a grave concern for Arsenal.

In a title race, the Gunners showed little evidence of being able to overcome Graham Potter’s side, who fought hard to take three points in the London derby.

After the game, Potter spoke to the media to evaluate a memorable day for his squad, sharing what he thought of Arsenal as an opponent.

Potter touched on the ‘risks’ Arteta’s players were taking, before providing a punishing verdict on how poor the Gunners were going forward.

“The way we defended towards the end as well was really pleasing. They’re going to push you back because they’re taking a lot of risks at 1-0 down, throwing men forward to try and get the equaliser,” Potter said, via West Ham’s official website

“Even though they’re down to ten men, you’re facing bodies and quality, and we had to defend. The subs came on and did their best, and you need a bit of luck, as well.

“But, I don’t think there were too many big chances against us, it was more pressure, and that’s credit to the players for the way they stood up to that.”

The West Ham boss recognised that Arsenal failed to create any highly significant chances, which at home in a title race, is incredibly alarming.

Arsenal don’t have sufficient attacking talent

Arsenal’s injury list has been a pressing issue throughout the season but, the fact is there that the Gunners were aware of their lack of depth even before the campaign started.

Failing to recruit was a tremendous error from the board but, it’s not the only issue Arteta is combatting in attack.

Against West Ham, it became clear that aside from Leandro Trossard, who impressed Arsenal fans, the hosts had very little excitement going forward.

Martin Odegaard was painfully poor in midfield, with Mikel Merino unable to have the impact he had against Leicester City.

The same can be said about Raheem Sterling, who came off the bench and offered very little, proving that not only are Arsenal short on depth but, are lacking quality and form right now.

Potter didn’t think much about what the Gunners created against West Ham, leaving Arteta with a sizeable task to overcome with incredibly limited resources.
