Tottenham’s stadium announcer had a message for Spurs fans before the North London Derby, and it backfired.
Arsenal beat Tottenham 4-1 for the second time in the Premier League this season, with Eberechi Eze stealing the headlines again.
It’s now five goals in North London Derbies for Eze, since the playmaker snubbed Spurs for Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
It all worked out for Eze, but not for Tottenham, whose optimism pre-match left their stadium announcer very red-faced.

Despite Arsenal’s North London Derby dominance, Spurs were right to have optimism heading into the fixture because of Igor Tudor’s record in his first matches for clubs.
The Gunners ended Tudor’s record of winning starts, leaving N17 with three points for the fourth season in a row.
Before the game, Spurs’ belief was made known, as the stadium announcer in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium got the crowd going with a bold statement about Arsenal.
“They’re worried, they’re nervous as hell. We’re calm. We’re ready,” they said, as relayed by journalist Charles Watts on X.
What was a ploy to get the stadium ready for the derby turned out to be embarrassing, as for a team who arrived ‘nervous as hell’, a 4-1 victory was pretty good.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become Arsenal’s stomping ground, as the Gunners have won four out of seven of their games away to Spurs under Arteta.
Since the 2022/23 season, Arsenal have an aggregate scoreline of 3-10 away to Spurs in the Premier League.
On that outing in 2023, Gabriel Martinelli celebrated by throwing an Arsenal scarf on the hanging spider camera, seeing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have some red and white about it.
Three years later, William Saliba attempted to replicate Martinelli’s humiliation ritual, throwing a red and white scarf towards the camera again.
Sadly, the Frenchman missed the target, but he won’t care, as the scoreline was enough for Arsenal to paint N17 red.
