Arsenal legend Ian Wright looked to troll Manchester United fans claiming they are a “mid-table” side, something that provoked an angry reaction from Roy Keane.

It came as Arsenal beat Man United 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, coming with three points and bragging rights for the Gunners.

Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba unlocked the Red Devils, who put up a stubborn defence away from home.

There were few chances for Arsenal in open play, but the set-pieces offered some much-needed goal threat.

With a draw for Liverpool earlier in the night, it allowed for some ground to be made up in the Premier League title race.

Even better for fans were the bragging rights on offer, something Ian Wright took full advantage of in front of his fellow pundits.

Ian Wright angers Roy Keane during Arsenal vs Man United

During the game, once the second goal went in, Arsenal legend Ian Wright took a moment to dig out Man United and wind up his fellow pundits Gary Neville and Roy Keane.

Speaking on The Overlap watch along, Wright said: “We’ve been very patient with a mid-table team that’s come and been very frustrating, they’ve really frustrated us and we deserve to get it done [laughs] with the set-pieces.”

It was a comment that angered Keane, who snapped back with: “Can I ask you, what age are you? You’re a grandfather, sitting there going ‘oh mid-table’, you’re acting childish. Show some class.”

Wright seemingly got the reaction out of his ex-Man United counterpart and responded: “No, I’m watching my team win.

“It’s got nothing to do with class, what’s that got to do with class? Was Jamie showing class just now?”

Keane simply responded by saying: “Absolutely not.”

It was clear frustration from the former Man United captain, who was annoyed at seeing his old team lose in the way they did.

As for Wright, he is more than happy after seeing his side move one step closer to league leaders Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta reaches Arsenal victory milestone

With a win over Manchester United, Mikel Arteta reached 150 victories at Arsenal in the 500th game at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s a huge milestone for the manager, one that many questioned whether he would ever reach after a difficult start to his head coach career.

His record against Man United is especially impressive, landing seven wins and one draw from ten games against the Red Devils.

It’s the best win percentage of any manager over the side with more than five games against them.

While it was a difficult game, it’s another important three teams ground out for the title push.
