Eberechi Eze got a rare start as Arsenal beat Inter Milan in the Champions League.
The England international has spent a lot of time on the bench recently. In fact, before Tuesday night, Eze had started just two of the Gunners’ previous nine games in all competitions, one of which was against Portsmouth in the FA Cup.
After a couple of poor performances from Martin Odegaard, Arsenal fans began calling for Eze to start, and they got their wish at the San Siro.
The former Crystal Palace man had a mixed game against Inter Milan.

Italian media react to Eberechi Eze’s performance during Inter Milan vs Arsenal
Eberechi Eze started in his preferred number 10 position for Arsenal against Inter Milan.
The 27-year-old looked bright early on and was involved in Gabriel Jesus’ opener in the 10th minute of the game.
Eze continued to occupy spaces in between the lines and made it difficult for the hosts to mark him. But he failed to have as big an impact as he would’ve liked in the final third.
Mikel Arteta decided to take him off in the 64th minute, and after the game, media outlets in Italy had their say on him.

Calciomercato gave Eze a 7/10 rating and wrote: “He is skilled at adapting to Arteta’s tactical system, switching from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 formation, finding space between the lines and often being in the right place at the right time.
“He became dangerous in the second half when he escaped the marking of Zielinski and Barella, but he faltered at the moment of finishing, with a shot that was too weak.”
Tutto Mercato Web rated him 6/10 and said: “A good performance for the former Palace player, who was involved in many of Arteta’s team’s actions, even if he wasn’t the most prominent protagonist.”
Finally, Eurosport in Italy gave him a 6.5/10 rating and wrote: “He provides quality and brilliant plays in midfield, mainly playing between the lines. He is tactically valuable because Arteta also entrusts him with the task of marking Zielinski.”

Arsenal star Eberechi Eze’s stats vs Inter Milan
Media outlets in Italy have assessed Eze’s performance really well.
The England international was not bad by any means. The way he kept dropping into the pockets caused Inter all sorts of problems, and he also interchanged positions with Jesus at times, which made it even more difficult to mark him.
However, it has to be said that Eze was not at his absolute best either.
In his 64 minutes on the pitch, the Arsenal number 10 only had 26 touches of the ball and lost possession six times. He only completed 13 passes and failed to create a single chance.
Sofascore gave Eze a 6.4/10 rating – only Jurrien Timber had a lower score among the 22 players who started the game at the San Siro.
