Arsenal forward Kai Havertz produced a magnificent display against PSG on Tuesday night.

Arsenal were deserving 2-0 winners over PSG in their Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz nodded the Gunners ahead with 20 minutes on the clock, connecting with Leandro Trossard’s cross.

Trossard and Havertz combined well from the off in this match, as both players worked together intelligently. If Havertz dropped deep, for instance, the Belgian would burst forward.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the former Chelsea man’s overall contribution against the French giants.

Beyond scoring a crucial goal, the 25-year-old was exemplary in his efforts to lead the line throughout. He held the ball up well, dragging his teammates up the pitch and bringing them into play, and he was also diligent in his defensive duties, pressing and harrying opponents.

Kai Havertz gets into the Arsenal history books against PSG

Havertz seems to particularly enjoy playing at home for the Gunners.

Arsenal have played on their own patch five times so far this season, across all competitions, against Wolves, Brighton, Bolton Wanderers, Leicester City, and PSG.

Havertz has netted in each of these games. He has now become the first Arsenal player since the 1954/55 campaign to score in the club’s first five home games in a season, when Doug Lishman managed the feat.

Arteta will want to see Havertz’s streak continue, and will also want to see the striker producing this prolific edge when the Gunners are on the road.

Transformed Kai Havertz on display vs PSG

Havertz has come a long way since his arrival in North London from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023. He looked bereft of confidence at that time.

Havertz has admitted he didn’t settle at Arsenal for some time. He certainly feels at home in red and white now, though, and his performances on the pitch have improved vastly in recent months.

Arteta deserves huge credit for the faith and patience he has shown in Havertz, and is now being rewarded for the trust he invested in the attacker.
