Arsenal drew 0-0 with Liverpool on an unpredictably lacklustre night at the Emirates.

Before kick-off, fans inside the Emirates set the scene of the magnitude of the contest, but the players were not able to match the energy in the stands.

Bukayo Saka started brightly against Liverpool, but as the game progressed, any intricacy from Arsenal died out, making the result unsurprising.

While Saka stood out for his threat, others stood out for the wrong reasons, one being Myles Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal’s most disappointing performer against Liverpool was ________

Explain your answer!

Arsenal fans saw Myles Lewis-Skelly struggle against Liverpool

With Riccardo Calafiori out injured, Lewis-Skelly was called into action when Piero Hincapie was forced to withdraw.

It was always going to be a challenge for Lewis-Skelly to match Hincapie’s defensive physicality, but some fans perhaps didn’t expect the teen to struggle as he did.

On social media, fans commented on the Englishman’s cameo in a negative light.

“MLS is the weak link here,” one fan said on X.

As soon as he came on, Lewis-Skelly was troubled by Jeremie Frimpong, and fans noticed it.

“Frimpong is giving MLS a bad day,” one X user wrote, as others agreed.

“The space in behind MLS every time is scary,” and “Lewis-Skelly is very off tonight.”

The defender was called a ‘rabbit in headlights’ by a fan on BBC Sport

“Lewis-Skelly has the look of a rabbit in headlights here. He’s getting obliterated on that flank every time they come down it. Only a matter of time before Frimpong makes one count.”

Others called his performance a “disaster-class of a cameo”, while another X user simply said, “Lewis-Skelly looks lost.”

It was a poor performance from the teenager, who didn’t look comfortable at all against Liverpool.

Roy Keane also wasn’t impressed with Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal fans made their thoughts on Lewis-Skelly’s performance known, and they weren’t the only ones.

If Myles Lewis-Skelly could only play in one position for the rest of his career, would you have him at left-back or in midfield?

Covering the game on Sky Sports, Roy Keane shared his opinion that Lewis-Skelly wasn’t actually ready to come onto the pitch.

“Lewis-Skelly didn’t even look ready to come onto the pitch,” Keane said.

“If Liverpool had a bit more about them, it would have been worse for Arsenal.”

It was a punishing cameo for Lewis-Skelly, who has had a testing season so far.
