Arsenal have played well in Paris but have lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Mikel Arteta’s side had a barrage of chances in the opening exchanges as Gianluigi Donnarumma made some unbelievable saves amid efforts from Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.

Arsenal were made to pay for their missed chances as Fabian Ruiz put PSG in front midway through the half to give the French champions one foot in the Champions League final.

Despite playing well and generally controlling the game, The Gunners failure to be clinical in attacking areas is set to cost them once again.

Arsenal fans react to Martin Odegaard performance v PSG

Arsenal are facing a fight to save their European dream and fans have taken to X to vent their fury over Odegaard’s first half performance.

The Gunners captain has been busy and pressed really well but his decisions in the final third have left fans frustrated once again with the Norwegian.

One Arsenal fan wrote: “Martin Odegaard needs to stop overthinking & be more decisive in his passing and shot. He has the quality to produce great numbers but is playing under restraint and low confidence. If he doesn’t improve, he will just remain a passing stat merchant.”

Another fan wrote: “I think Martin Odegaard is a great player, but he seems really inhibited around the box. Stop shuffling it wide and shoot, or drive at the defence ! Or, Arteta should play him deeper as playmaker.”

One Arsenal fan highlighted the importance of Odegaard to the team but shared how his performance was affecting the side, they wrote: “Martin Odegaard hasn’t been really great in the first half If he isn’t playing well, Arsenal struggle to create clear or big chances.”

Arsenal had to be ruthless and PSG were

In the build up to the game, it was constantly highlighted about the importance of Arsenal taking any chances that came their way and within the first twenty minutes, the Gunners could have been three up.

Declan Rice will feel he should have done better with a header and Odegaard’s excellent strike was saved well by the brilliant Donnarumma.

Despite the early pressure, it was PSG that took the lead with a thunderous strike and should the Gunners lose out in the tie, the difference has been the ability to put the ball in the back of the net.

Andrea Berta has a huge summer ahead of him to get Arteta the firepower he needs in attacking areas to make that next step.
