Fabian Hurzeler had some strong words to say after Arsenal beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

The Gunners were nowhere near their best and had to struggle for large parts of the game. However, Bukayo Saka’s goal in the first half was enough for them to seal the win.

Hurzeler slammed Arsenal for time-wasting in a huge rant after the game and even called for the Premier League to change the rules on that front.

Who was Arsenal’s most disappointing player despite the 1-0 win vs Brighton?

This isn’t the first time Hurzeler has had something controversial to say about Arsenal.

In the 2024/25 season, the Brighton boss angered Gooners when he publicly backed the decision to send Declan Rice off for tapping the ball away.

On Wednesday night, Hurzeler made even stronger comments about Mikel Arteta’s side wasting time. He said: “I will never be that kind of manager who tries to win in that way.”

Michael Owen and Ray Parlour, who have both played for big teams and won the Premier League title before, shut him down after the game.

After hearing his comments, the Arsenal Invincible said on Premier League Productions: “He’s not going for the title!”

Owen agreed and said: “He’s not. He might change his mind if he is going for the title. Any old winner will do!”

Speaking further, Owen added: “Listen, Arsenal have played well for the vast majority of the season. And it’s the oldest saying in the book, the oldest saying in the football book: To win the league, sometimes you have to win it ugly.

“Arsenal have done that as well this season. Fair play to them.”

Fabian Hurzeler should focus on Brighton instead of moaning about Arsenal

Did Arsenal waste time against Brighton at times – yes, they did.

The Gunners did what they had to do to slow the game down, and it was down to the referee to speed things up. Chris Kavanagh didn’t, which shows that he was happy with how the game went.

Furthermore, even though Brighton were the better side, they did not come close to scoring against Arsenal. So, the result may not have been any different even if the North Londoners hadn’t wasted time.

Hurzeler has had a lot to say, and we won’t be surprised if he brings it up in his next press conference as well.

However, instead of making needless comments, he should focus on making Brighton better. The Seagulls have won just nine league games all season and have lost three times to Arsenal.
