Viktor Gyokeres netted his first goal from open play in 13 matches for Arsenal, with Ben White also displaying his importance for the Gunners.
The 27-year-old hasn’t exactly helped himself recently with his overall performances; however, he has also been starved of service.
True or false: Arsenal are a better team when Ben White plays over Jurrien Timber…
It’s clear that Gyokeres offers Arsenal much more than just goals, with his work off the ball being of great benefit to his teammates.
Hopefully, the Swede’s goal and assist against Chelsea will give him a big lift, but also show Mikel Arteta how Ben White could be key in getting the best from him.
Ben White could get the best from Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal
White really could be the player to finally help unlock Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal, given his direct style as a full-back.
The defender set up Gyokeres for his goal against the Blues as he slid an inviting ball across the Chelsea box and straight into the path of the Swedish striker.
When the Gunners were really hitting their stride during the 2023/24 season, White played a key role then as an overlapping full-back down the right.

Some big performances 💪
The England international, paired with Bukayo Saka, made Arteta’s team such a handful, as whilst teams focused on the winger, White would often be afforded the space.
The 28-year-old seems to have a brilliant positional sense, which makes him an additional threat to the Gunners’ attack.
Gyokeres and White know each other well from their time at Brighton, and now, the latter could be key in helping get the best from his teammate.
Ben White hails the connection with Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal
White believes that his strong connection with Gyokeres helped him to set up the striker for the Gunners’ second goal of the game.
When asked about his connection with Gyokeres, White told Sky Sports: “Yeah, of course. I knew he was going to be waiting for the ball across. I didn’t really look to be fair. I just tried to fire it across.”
Meanwhile, Gyokeres was quick to thank his teammate: “It’s not his first assist for me. I knew he would try to find me, and he did. Being in the right position? Yeah, that’s what I need to do. I can do it more often.”
