Noni Madueke has revealed what he was talking about with Eberechi Eze on the bench during Arsenal’s win over Nottingham Forest.

After royally leaving their mark on the game, Mikel Arteta was able to protect his two England internationals by substituting them in the second half.

Eze and Madueke came off at the same time and took their seat on the bench for the final ten minutes of action, but immediately, they turned their attention to the next match.

Before the final whistle had blown in Arsenal’s win over Nottingham Forest, the two wingers started talking about the Champions League clash that awaits on Tuesday.

Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze are already thinking about the Champions League

Eze was tremendous against Forest, as was Madueke, but the moment the duo stepped off the pitch, the fixture became a thing of the past.

Arsenal kick off their Champions League campaign against Athletic Bilbao, with the Gunners travelling to the Basque Country.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the win over Forest, Madueke revealed that he and Eze had been talking about playing in the Champions League.

I can’t lie, when Ebs and I came off, we were talking about it,” the Arsenal winger said.

“It’s gonna be special, it’s our first time playing in the Champions League, so it’s something to thank God for, and definitely going to go on that pitch and try and have fun and get a win for Arsenal.”

It’s no surprise that Tuesday’s clash was immediately on the two summer signings’ minds, as Eze has never played in Europe in his career.

Madueke, on the other hand, featured in the Champions League qualifiers with PSV Eindhoven, but never played in the tournament finals.

Madueke’s record in European competitions

The clash against Bilbao will bring a lot of excitement to the Arsenal squad, with Madueke and Eze among those to be pinching themselves at the occasion.

After getting a taste of what European success feels like last season, winning the Europa Conference League with Chelsea, Madueke will be desperate to go far in the Champions League with Arsenal.

The winger played a significant role in Chelsea’s Conference League campaign last term, contributing to four goals in five appearances, as well as playing 90 minutes in the final.

In his senior career, Madueke has made 31 appearances in European competitions, contributing to 11 goals in that time, but has yet to play in the Champions League.

Tuesday night will see the 23-year-old’s dream come true with Eze alongside him, two players who will be hungrier than ever to make a name for themselves.
