Arsenal fans will love Ally McCoist’s latest take on how the 2025/26 season could end for the Gunners.
It’s not only supporters who want Arsenal to win silverware this season, as the media are already putting pressure on Mikel Arteta to add to the club’s cabinet.
Added to that, the Arsenal squad are hungry for trophies, having finished in second place for three Premier League seasons in a row.
Arteta will tell you how incredibly hard it is to win the Premier League as competition grows; however, it’s not the most desired title up for grabs.

Ally McCoist thinks Arsenal could win the Champions League
There is no greater accolade in European football than winning the Champions League.
Arsenal Women did it last season, an achievement the men’s team is yet to experience.
‘Champions of Europe, you’ll never sing that’ is a taunt that Gooners are bored of hearing from opposition fans, leaving many wondering when the wait will be over.
Given the standard Arteta has implemented at Arsenal, there’s a lot of optimism, but it’s not only those tied to the club who believe in the North Londoners’ Champions League dream.
Speaking to TNT Sports’ TikTok channel to play a game of ‘agree or disagree’, Ally McCoist admitted he believes Arsenal are the most likely British club to win the Champions League this season.
While Joe Cole and Michail Antonio answered simply with ‘disagree’, McCoist gave a reason why he agreed with the statement.
“Agreed, I think the business has been good,” he said.
As many as six English clubs will play in the Champions League this season, with Arsenal qualifying alongside Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
Arsenal’s Champions League record under Mikel Arteta
Over the previous seven seasons, there have been three English winners of the Champions League, Manchester City being the most recent in 2023.
McCoist thinks Arsenal could be the next to join the list, which is a scenario that fans dream of.
| 2023/24 | 2024/25 | |
| Wins | 5 | 9 |
| Draws | 2 | 2 |
| Losses | 3 | 3 |
| Goals for | 19 | 31 |
| Goals against | 8 | 10 |
| Finish | Quarter final | Semi final |
As mentioned, the Gunners have progressed tremendously in the competition since Arteta’s arrival, recording a quarter-final and then a semi-final finish.
The quarter-final win over Real Madrid last season was a high point in the entire campaign, but the North Londoners certainly met their match in the semis in the form of Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain.
European clubs are all hungry to get their name on the trophy in 2026, with Arsenal arguably the hungriest, having never completed the feat.
